Ex-Vikings DL Darrion Scott arrested (AP)

Former Minnesota Vikings defensive lineman Darrion Scott has been arrested after police searched his Eden Prairie residence. Police say Scott was booked into the Hennepin County jail Wednesday on suspicion of assault and malicious punishment of a child. The 26-year-old Scott is a free agent after spending the past four seasons with the Vikings.

Patriots release CB Mixon, LB Slaughter (AP)

The New England Patriots released cornerback Tim Mixon and linebacker T.J. Slaughter on Wednesday. The 30-year-old Slaughter was signed by the Patriots as a free agent on Feb. 12. He spent the 2007 season out of football. Before then, the 6-foot-1, 233-pound linebacker played in 78 games for the Jacksonville Jaguars, who selected him in the third round of the 2000 NFL draft.

Jaguars sign S Prioleau, waive QB Ricard (AP)

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed free agent safety Pierson Prioleau on Wednesday and waived quarterback Lester Ricard. Prioleau, entering his 10th season, spent the last three years with the Washington Redskins. He played 15 games in 2007, starting four and finishing with 38 tackles. He has 353 tackles, 5 1/2 sacks and one interception in 113 career games with San Francisco, Buffalo and Washington.

Nix out as Chargers assistant GM (AP)

Buddy Nix is out as assistant general manager of the San Diego Chargers, with the team saying he retired and his wife saying he resigned. The Chargers sent out a news release late Tuesday afternoon saying Nix had resigned, and that a restructuring of the personnel department by general manager A.J. Smith had begun, including the hiring of Randy Mueller, a former NFL GM, as senior executive.

Former Tennessee Titans wide receiver Tyrone Calico faces indictment on drunken driving charges after a judge Tuesday sent his case to the grand jury.
