Portis, Haynesworth could play Sunday (AP)

Running back Clinton Portis and defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth are among the gimpy Washington Redskins. Portis, Haynesworth, cornerback Carlos Rogers and fullback Mike Sellers sat out practice Wednesday. Coach Jim Zorn was optimistic all four will play Sunday against Tampa Bay. Vick to repay $416,000 to pension plan (AP)

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has agreed to repay at least $416,000 that he is accused of illegally withdrawing from a pension plan. The Labor Department said Wednesday the payment settles a lawsuit against Vick for making transfers from the plan sponsored by a celebrity marketing company he once owned.

Colts DE Freeney not ruling out Sunday (AP)

Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney has a strained right quadriceps but has not ruled himself out of Sunday's game against Seattle. Freeney, a four-time Pro Bowler and former league sacks champ, said Wednesday he wakes up each morning hoping to return to practice. Study: Ex-NFL players face dementia risk (AP)

A new study suggests retired National Football League players may have a high rate of Alzheimer's disease or other memory problems. The telephone survey asked if the retirees had ever been diagnosed with dementia, Alzheimer's disease or other memory-related disease. Nearly 2 percent of the former players ages 30 to 49 said yes.

Delhomme to remain Panthers’ starting QB (AP)

Jake Delhomme may have two touchdown passes and seven interceptions, but he'll remain winless Carolina's starting quarterback. When asked Wednesday if Delhomme was still his guy moving forward, coach John Fox replied, "Yes, with a capital Y." Delhomme threw two interceptions and lost a fumble in the Panthers' 21-7 loss to Dallas Monday to drop Carolina to 0-3.

Giants’ Bradshaw hurting, likely to play (AP)

New York Giants backup halfback Ahmad Bradshaw went to practice wearing a boot on his right foot Wednesday. Coach Tom Coughlin said Bradshaw aggravated an old ankle injury and sprained his foot while rushing for 104 yards in a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last weekend. Bradshaw did not practice Wednesday.

Anderson to start at QB for Browns (AP)

Derek Anderson will replace Brady Quinn and start at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns on Sunday against Cincinnati. Coach Eric Mangini has decided to go with Anderson, a Pro Bowler in 2007, over Quinn, a former first-round draft pick who opened the season as Cleveland's starter, but was benched at halftime last Sunday in Baltimore.
