Officiating crew chosen for Super Bowl (AP)

Referee Scott Green will lead a seven-man crew in officiating Sunday's Super Bowl between the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints. The NFL announced the game officials Wednesday. Green is finishing his 19th season in the NFL. He was a back judge in the 2002 and 2004 Super Bowls. He has been a referee since 2004, and will be officiating his 13th playoff game.

NFL won’t also fine Rex Ryan for gesture (AP)

New York Jets coach Rex Ryan will not be fined by the NFL for making an obscene gesture at a mixed martial arts event last weekend. League spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed to The Associated Press in an e-mail Wednesday that Ryan would not face additional discipline by the NFL after the Jets fined him $50,000 on Tuesday.

Colts’ Freeney says ankle pain subsiding (AP)

Dwight Freeney says the pain in his sprained right ankle is subsiding and he still hopes play in Sunday's Super Bowl. The Colts' All-Pro defensive end said Wednesday that in addition to using an oxygen tent, he has been walking barefoot and in the Florida sand to strengthen the ankle. It appears to be working.

Cowboys FB Anderson free after arrest (AP)

Dallas Cowboys fullback Deon Anderson is free on his own recognizance after his arrest at a suburban restaurant parking lot. The incident happened early Tuesday in the Dallas suburb of Addison. A statement issued by the town of Addison says police answered an aggravated assault report and learned of a confrontation between several men and a parking valet.
